Shadel Nyack Compton
Born in London, England, and raised in Grenada, Ms. Nyack Compton is an experienced attorney in practise for over 25 years, with a local and international client base. Specialising in prime real estate, Corporate, Business, Probate, Wills, Copyright and Trademarks and General Practice, she has extensive working knowledge of the real estate and commerce sectors in Grenada and is a respected community and business leader on the island.
Ms Nyack Compton holds a Juris Doctor and Masters in International Law from Georgetown University in Washington DC, USA, a Certificate of Legal Education from Hugh Wooding Law School, University of the West Indies, and a Masters in Agribusiness from Kansas State University, in Manhattan, Kansas, USA.
In the United States she has been admitted to the bar in Maryland, New York and the District of Columbia and is a member of the American Bar Association. In the Caribbean, she has been admitted to practice in St. Lucia and Grenada and serves as a Notary Public in Grenada.
Currently, Ms. Nyack Compton is serving as the Honorary Consul of India to Grenada, and Chairperson of the Indo-Grenadian Heritage Foundation and has previously served as Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Grenada Board of Tourism, Deputy Chair of the Board of Directors of the Grenada Tourism Authority (GTA), Chair of the National Wear Committee of the Ministry of Culture and President of the Grenada Organic Cocoa Farmers’ Co-operative Society Ltd.
Ms Nyack Compton is also the Owner and Managing Director of Belmont Estate, a historic plantation that she diversified into an award winning, premiere agri-business enterprise, offering organic products, a local restaurant and tours and a ‘state of the art’ chocolate factory that produces organic “tree to bar” dark and milk chocolates.
Ms Nyack Compton has received awards from the Grenada Chamber of Industry and Commerce, Caribbean Tourism Organization, other local and international organizations and was awarded Businesswoman of the Year in 2013 by the Grenada Chamber of Industry and Commerce, and is the first Grenadian and first woman to receive the Anthony N Sabga Awards for Excellence Award for Entrepreneurship (2017).
